Hello, I am Thomas!
I studied Product Design at Central Saint Martins, London and I have been making things quietly, privately, for over ten years.
Working through the language of material culture, I explore how objects become vessels of identity, memory, and belonging.
I am drawn to the everyday things that accompany us through moments of transition,
such as the boxes that carry our possessions when we move.
Through painting on these boxes and other discarded materials, I examine how familiar objects transform unfamiliar spaces
into homes, offering comfort, continuity, and a sense of self.
Artistic Vision
The Memory of Transit: objects wrapped and unwrapped, of a life in motion.
It took me a long time to understand why I had always made art for my own walls.
It was never about decoration. It was about making a place mine, turning four unfamiliar walls into somewhere I recognised.
Painting is how I put down roots in temporary ground.
Technique
I work with layers of dry paint and an array of different techniques of graffiato, scratching back into the surface to find what lies beneath.
It is less like painting and more like excavation: taking away rather than adding, trusting that something is already there waiting to be uncovered.
What emerges are floral forms, organic and strange,
as if a hidden world is slowly growing through the paint.
